    Emma Gattey (Pākehā/New Zealand European) is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, with a background in legal practice and literary criticism. Her doctoral research focuses on collaboration and conflict between Pākehā feminists and Māori women activist-intellectuals in late twentieth-century Aotearoa New Zealand. Grounded in women’s writing and publishing – from periodicals and books to academic papers and graphic novels – her work focuses on the transnational influences behind this intersectional scholarship and activism. Emma regularly reviews for literary journals, is a Research Fellow at the University of Otago and co-editor of the Pacific Circle Bulletin.

    Dr Hannah Spruce is a lecturer in English in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Leeds Beckett University. She focuses on twenty-first century women’s writing, writing on a diverse range of genres and exploring representations of violence. Her next project is on twenty-first century book club participation in the UK. She has run a public reading group since 2019.

    I am a part-time PhD student at Birkbeck, analysing the tension between progressivism and exploitation in English and American surrogacy memoirs. I also work as an English teacher and Librarian in East London. I’m a member of the CWWA Executive Committee, and a co-organiser of Broadly Conceived – an interdisciplinary group for scholars interested in reproduction.

    Dr Jo Parsons is a Lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Falmouth University. Originally a Victorian Literature specialist with interests in masculinity, the body, Wilkie Collins, and Victorian Sensation Fiction, Jo is now leading Falmouth’s move into the area of Erotica and Romantic Fictions and is currently working on a new project on popular women’s writing from 1950–2000, with a particular focus on the Bonkbuster. Her research, both Victorian and contemporary, is grounded in gender and cultural studies. Jo is also a co-editor (with Ruth Heholt) of both the Gender and the Body in Literature and Culture and Nineteenth-Century and Neo-Victorian Cultures book series with Edinburgh University Press, as well as assistant editor of Revenant
